We know what people working in a LLEW Role don’t do. We don’t do the clinical stuff – assessments, encouraging ‘compliance’ with a particular treatment, we also don’t function as case aides, going shopping for consumers, or transporting consumers.

So, what does LLEW do then?

Consumer and Carer workers have been around a few decades, but usually one or two a service. The vast majority of clinical staff had little contact with us before the explosion in LLEW roles a couple years ago, so really have never heard about what we do and how we do it.

They usually don’t know what informs our practice or what ways we can contribute to a MH setting.

Below is a little presentation I wrote. It’s based on an earlier brief article, also on this site. It covers mostly Intentional Peer Support and what that model allows us to do in a Mental Health setting.

The original files, which you can download below, have extended speaking points in the Notes section.
